This plantation does not appear in the 1891 Forbes’ survey of woodlands but it does appear in the 1917 Estate sale catalogue as “Lot 241. A valuable plantation of Black Italian Poplar admirably suited for use as Pit Wood, and averaging 5in. quarter girth. This Plantation is situated in close proximity to the Watling Street Road” with an area of 4.45 acres. Its name does not appear on Ordnance Survey maps but it is marked as Lot 241 on the main sale plan of 1917 and is west of Burlington Farm, which was sold as a separate Lot 44. On the OS map below, Watling Street is the old Roman east-west road to the north of Crackleybank Farm.
